Little Food Cabinet Movement
Resilience Foundation provided the leadership for the launch of the Little Food Cabinet Movement in Sri Lanka. Little Food Cabinet Movement is a grassroots, crowdsourced solution where community members would help each other by sharing food at a 24/7 open, unconditional food cabinet that helps to feed and nourish the needy members of the community. It is because even in difficult financial times, different community members are affected differently. Further, the communities have an urge and capacity to help each other for survival. The Little Food Cabinet Movement in Sri Lanka was inspired by the Little Free Pantry Movement in the USA.
Most Little Food Cabinets were established through the Compassion in Action – Little Food Cabinet Stewardship program. The first cohort of the stewardship program supported five youth leaders, while to second supported 15 youth leaders with the advice and support to establish and maintain a Little Food Cabinet in their respective communities.
